Meet Jan Kokol of IMAGO Design

user-spotlight_jan2017_jan_kokolJan Kokol, Ph.D., is leading his design and visualization company IMAGO Design and working as a design consultant for major design firms. In this collection of renderings from Kokol, the 3D images were modeled in Rhinoceros, then ArchVision RPCs were placed and rendered in 3ds Max with V-Ray. Post production was handled in Photoshop.

Though the software is powerful, Kokol says his biggest asset is sheer passion for his projects and continuing to learn new skills.

“I would say that it is important to love what you do,” said the Slovenia-born, Austria-based designer. “Always be very critical with your own work and do not hesitate to put in an extra amount of work in your project, if you believe it is going to look better.”

Designed by Jan Kokol, here is a lobby space for OVG Real Estate on the M1 Berlin project.

Kokol encourages others to invest in learning and improving in technical knowledge, particularly in the 3D community where “there is so much technical knowledge shared.”

IMAGO Design is a computer graphics and design production studio specializing in architectural design, product development, visualizations, web design, illustrations and interactive environments. These are ideal settings for ArchVision RPC entourage to shine, and Kokol has done just that.

RPCs translate well in virtual reality scenes like the ones that Kokol created below. The VR movies were done with V-Ray and 3ds Max, too, and then rendered as 360 degree spherical images.

Kokol studied Architecture at the Technical University Graz, the Faculdade de Arquitectura Lisboa, the Chiba-Dai University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, GSD. Prior to starting his own company, Kokol was working for diverse international architecture firms such as Günther Domenig, Miralles Tagliabue, Opersis/Zaha Hadid and UNStudio.

LHB Minneapolis Office Renderings Submitted for LEED® CI Platinum

Gathering Space, LHB, Inc, Minneapolis

LHB is dedicated to being environmentally responsible, reducing long term operating costs, and improving the quality of life for their clients. This is true even when they are their own clients. LHB is pursuing LEED® CI Platinum certification for their Minneapolis office.

In this project, RPC Content helps communicate the size and the new collaborative environment the Minneapolis LHB offices offer. The design features of the space, such as overhead fabric ductwork and LED lighting, are part of an effort to gain Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Platinum designation for commercial interiors from the U.S. Green Building Council.

We always enjoy seeing customer projects and how they utilize RPC Content. In this project, renderings were completed in Revit. ArchVision RPC Content was ‘ghosted’ in Photoshop and then merged into the Revit scene for final output. Project design by Bruce Cornwall, models by Nick Vreeland, and renderings by Daniel Stine.

Project Alpha: Green Building Doha, Qatar Leverages RPC Content in Animation

Project Alpha is an approximated 160,000 square meter development surrounded by 11 hectares of landscaping. It is comprised of a resort hotel, multi-residential condos, business center, commercial shops, museum, university, and exposition centers. Project Alpha promises to be one of the most advanced high rise development of its kind in the world.

Submitted into a global competition for consideration by the Kingdom of Qatar, Project Alpha was selected as a to-be-built project in Doha, Qatar. CIVE, XV Studio (Xavier Vilalta i Sabartés) and fco3d collaborated on this project.

ArchVision RPC Content user, Francisco J Penaloza, fco3d , produced the models, renderings and video animation. Francisco shared the video submission with us recently to discuss his use of RPC Content within the presentation. Thanks for sharing this project with us Francisco!

Top 30 airport in the world renovation renderings feature ArchVision RPC Content.

Over seven million people travel through Cincinnati International Airport (CVG) each year. As one of the busiest airports in the world, Cincinnati plans to update the ticketing, tunnel and passenger / gate areas. A few renderings are shown below which demonstrate the value of RPC Content use in scenes. User Spotlight: Insight Architectural Group

Last month, we showed you a project using RPCs that was led by architectural powerhouse HOK. While virtually every Top 250 Architecture Firms uses our software, we also have great relations with firms that focus on servicing local and regional projects and clients.

As many of you know, I spend quite a bit of time interacting with our users. I’m always here to help users troubleshoot and ensure the RPC workflow is “flowing.” Every time I speak with our users, I am always impressed by the vast depth of projects that include RPCs.

Last week, Architect Stephen Helmey of Insight Architectural Group in Hendersonville, Tennessee shared some project work: a proposed Student Services and Classroom building and several national Subaru dealership visualization projects. In practice in Tennessee since 1980, Stephen has a Master of Architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Having worked in the 3D industry for more than 20 years now, his range of project experience is diverse. Here are a few samples of his recent project work:


The Subaru dealership shown is part of a national account. The use of RPC Trees and Shrubs help convey the desired look. The below project, completed using Revit Architecture, is part of a proposal for a university student center.
