Unlocking AVAIL: Your All‑In‑One Content Management Solution for AEC Teams

Clay Watson (Director of Customer Success, AVAIL) joins ArchVision to demo AVAIL, a content management platform for AEC teams using Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

Struggling to find BIM content fast and keep teams aligned? Meet AVAIL, your single source of truth for Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D assets. It centralizes files, speeds up search, and shortens the path from library to project. In this post & video, see how AVAIL helps you maintain clean libraries, move quicker, and reduce friction for your whole team.

What is AVAIL?

AVAIL is a content management platform built for AEC workflows. It organizes BIM content in one place, from Revit families and details to DWG blocks and drafting views. It supports full project lifecycles, from QA/QC in container files to day‑to‑day use in live projects.

Supported types include PDFs, spec sheets, Word docs, URLs, PowerPoints, Bluebeam, Rhino, and SketchUp.

Core Principles

AVAIL balances ease of maintenance with ease of consumption so teams can manage content without slowing down.

  • File type agnostic
  • File location agnostic

Think container library to searchable library to project placement, all in a smooth loop.

File Type and Location Agnostic

AVAIL accepts BIM and non‑BIM files, including web links you can open in the AVAIL desktop. It sits on top of your existing storage, whether local drives, network shares, Google Drive, SharePoint, or ACC. There is no file movement, only a faster, visual way to browse and search.

Roles and Permissions

  • Publishers: create, organize, tag, and share content.
  • Consumers: search, browse, and pull content into projects.

This simple split keeps libraries clean while users grab what they need.

Channels, Search, and Filters

Channels group content by purpose, like Revit families, Civil 3D blocks, or branding. Open a channel to see high‑res previews and use bottom filters and tags to narrow results.

Global search scans all channels by filename and tags. Search “base cabinet,” jump into the right channel, then refine with filters.

High‑Res Previews, Flags, and Comments

View zoomable previews for families, sheets, and drafting views without opening Revit. AVAIL can append related legends, schedules, and views beside sheets. Use the flag button to mark items with notes like “needs review,” then track comments over time.

Pallets: Drive Project Workflows

Pallets act like collaborative carts. Collect favorites or project‑specific items across channels, share with teammates, and edit together without touching source content.

  • Create a pallet
  • Add items as you browse
  • Share or export

Use the PDF exporter to batch export selected views as PDF, PNG, or JPG for quick markup. Share pallet links in Teams or Slack. Even non‑Revit users can review content fast.

AVAIL for Revit

Project Navigator lets you search and filter project elements, see types and instances, and jump to rooms or levels. Cast a search to AVAIL desktop, then drag and drop to load families. Pick types before loading, or bulk load from pallets.

AVAIL for AutoCAD and Civil 3D

Index DWG block libraries for visual drag and drop. Use Application Mappings to show only the channels your CAD users need. For Civil 3D, set up Pipe Network Catalogs with default locations and types, then let users load them in a few clicks. Options include color preservation and automated block placement settings.

Harvest: Automate Extraction and Search

Harvest pulls elements from container files into channels. Build a queue, pick a destination channel and distribution folder, then add related content settings. For Civil 3D and AutoCAD, automate scale, rotation, and explode prompts. You can run large jobs overnight.

Outputs include related content links and OCR full text search on drafting views and DWGs. Anyone can find items by text on the view, with no Revit needed.

Try the free version, build a few channels, and test tagging and search. There are no data limits for Harvest, though processing time varies with file size. For product info, onboarding help, and learning content, contact us at sales@archvision.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
